WW1 medals
Just returned for the Commemoration at Wigan Got to say I've never seen so many shiny pairs of shoes in one place since last year's ceremony. Even the really old guys were immaculately turned out and how proud they were. Made be proud to be a Wiganer...
My grandson who is 11 said that next year he wanted to wear my grandfather's medals, his great grandfather, who was killed in WW 1. I do have two medals. Is there anywhere were I can find out what medals he was awarded. I was under the impression that he should have had a STAR shaped medal too?

Try these:
Medals enquiries. MOD Medal Office Innsworth House Imjin Barracks Gloucester GL3 1HW. Email DBS-Medals@mod.uk.
Also you can get service records from the MOD but it costs around £30. Look up "Veterans UK" on the Gov website.

If the medals have been lost Standards in the Wiend can supply replicas and ribbons.

Two things about today.
I knew I had a cousin buried in a war cemetery in Holland, searched and found details, even a picture of the headstone. Isn't Google wonderful.
Watched today's recording of the cenotaph service and my neighbours son was part of the clergy, for want of a better expression he seemed to be second in command.
