A spokesperson for the Duchy of Lancaster added: "We operate a number of investments and a few of these are with overseas funds. All of our investments are fully audited and legitimate.
"The Queen voluntarily pays tax on any income she receives from the Duchy."

Let he who is without sin

If I had that sort of wealth I would do exactly the same, as no doubt would everyone else in here

Posted by: Anne (3107)  Report abuse
Everyone who subscribed to an employers/works pension including Australian schemes need to think what the fund managers do to produce sufficient monies to pay out pensions.
The Queen is reputed to be a multi, multi MILLIONAIRE .There are scores of Australian multi, multi BILLIONAIRES. Wonder where they stash their cash?

Posted by: PeterP (6112) Report abuse
How much of your money which you are daft enough to give to charity is salted away in overseas banks They all do it the rich and infamous Always said if I had won big money on the lottery(don't do it any more)I would invest it overseas to stop our tax man having any

Tax dodging ,benefit scrounging parasites

Posted by: mindar (118) Report abuse
Not so squeeky clean

So much for Republicanism then aussi

Posted by: whups (2350)  Report abuse
yes handsome & we pay for it too. they claim tax relief on the loan they get.

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
No mention of the guy from the NUM getting £147000 and a car loan when he resigned to become an MP. Remember getting the Central Heating loan from the NCB,! Did you have to pay tax on it. Any tax on coal as a benefit in kind when you paid a £1 a ton or whatever. I got a mobile phone so work could keep in contact and was taxed on it.

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
HM,
I would willingly have avoided tax so I didnít have to pay towards the parasites that were in the clubs and pubs every afternoon, milking the system, and had no intention of working.

Posted by: Handsomeminer (1295) Report abuse
Chicken feed to Liz n Phil and their clan

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
Robbery is robbery whether a TV from a house or a bank. There aren't different levels of tax evasion IMO.

Posted by: Stardelta (5872) Report abuse
Don't blame the individuals, blame the system.

If there is a loop hole it needs to be closed.

Posted by: tomplum (4417)  Report abuse
in this case there's no argument,

its her money, its got the photo on it,

Posted by: whups (2350)  Report abuse
no mention of the top builders coining it in either.and were talking about people who are on mega bucks not those who are on a pittance. cheap shot broady.

Posted by: Tommy Two Stroke (1771) Report abuse
On about folk who are on mega bucks, what about that Arthur Scargill and Joe Gormley, they did awreet for themselves, Joe Gormley lived in a mansion in Shevington and Arthur Scargill fiddled himself a bungalow out of NUM

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
Whups, Check out Ian Laveryís redundancy package from the NUM in 2010. £147,000 plus £32000 house loan written off. Is that what you paid your subscriptions for?? He left to walk into a plum job as an MP.

Posted by: billy (25908)  Report abuse
Capone would be proud of em for sure.

Posted by: SoniaB (9) Report abuse
I think you choose to ignore all the revenue the Queen and Royal Family bring into the country. Grow Up !

Posted by: Handsomeminer (1295) Report abuse
We,ll get the honour of paying for her funeral in the ot to distant future wonder what's am will be pulled so the sprigs avoid paying inheritance tax

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
It is all perfectly legal though. Would everyone not avoid their children paying any kind of tax if they could. I wish my pension fund could avoid taxes and send more money to me.

Posted by: whups (2350)  Report abuse
arthur scargill isnt exactly lewis hamilton or even jimmy carr is he . why you extol the virtues of these parasites is beyond me . we all know that it,s the law that,s wrong & was brought in by thatcher in the 80s. when your getting a PM castigating jimmy carr & calling him "morally wrong" then we find out that lo & behold that cameron has money stashed in an off shore account.

Posted by: xxstuartxx (5799) Report abuse
brought in by thatcher in the 80s

It was only a matter of time..........the old chestnut.

Posted by: chatty (5266)  Report abuse
There's a bloke at the door ma'am says he's from HMRC, you must have heard of them they're named after you!

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
Whups,
Whether you like it or not Margaret Thatcher was democratically elected as PM. Once elected she, via Parliament, is empowered to govern. The only way she or he can be removed is at the next election by the PEOPLE casting votes. This didnít happen. One can only assume the electorate were generally happy with the Government. Labour were then elected using the same system and removed that way. Do you not believe in the Democratic system?? If Corbyn is ever elected it will be by the same democratic system. Will that be acceptable?? Successive Governments, of all parties, have the chance to remove al these loopholes but donít appear to have done so. Why do you think that is?? Does snouts in troughs by all parties ring a bell??

Posted by: Handsomeminer (1295) Report abuse
Do you think it's right or fair then broady

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
Legally it is correct but morally it is wrong. If I had sufficient monies I would try to legally evade any taxes. Do you think Lavery's payoff from the NUM was right or fair. I read of women raising monies to erect a statue in honour of miners and he walks away with so much and has a large loan written off.

Arthur Scargill millionaire eh ...

What was that Whupsy "arthur scargill isnt exactly lewis hamilton or even jimmy carr is he"

No 'brother' he has more money than those two put together

Posted by: chatty (5266)  Report abuse

How much money do some of these people need?
We are talking Billionaires and multi Billion pound companies in some cases evading taxes.
What is it they are saving up for?
If they lived to be 2000 years old they couldn't spend the money they have.

Posted by: whacker (569) Report abuse
From the movie, "Chinatown"

Geddes (played by Jack Nicholson) "How many millions do you have, ten, twenty, a hundred? What can you buy that you don't already have?"

John Huston's character, "The future, Mr. Geddes, the future."

Posted by: whups (2350)  Report abuse
so what . lewis got back 3.3 million in tax for his aeroplane alone . 3.3 million.

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
I think you are a Tory because you seem incapable of answering a question with an answer. If the guy two doors down from you kills two people but the one across the road kills three is the guy two doors down not a murderer?? Of course he is. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF LAVERY'S PAYOFF??? Do you think it is good use of the NUM monies??

Posted by: chatty (5266)  Report abuse

"The future", that's actually short
sightedness.
These multi billionaires have so much wealth that their descendants 50 times down the line will never have to lift a finger when they themselves have long been forgotten.
We all live on the same boat (planet) and it's getting smaller by the day, with global warming and the like no one can live in isolation, and everything has an impact.
Is it not better to spread the "wealth" and let everybody benefit rather than have a tiny elite?
In the end the "I'm all right Jack", stuff the rest attitude
will backfire!
Obviously my comments are aimed more at the the "filthy rich" who could have a massive impact with their wealth and not Joe Bloggs who has slid in an extra couple of fuel receipts on his tax return!

Posted by: Anne (3107)  Report abuse
Looks like anybody and everybody are involved. Sefton council and Warrington council avoided paying £12million by using offshore facilities.

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
Labour controlled!!! Canít blame that on Maggie.

Posted by: Tommy Two Stroke (1771) Report abuse
I wish I was a yoonion mon, I would have a big house, with a butler, a nice chauffeur driven car and I wouldn't need a blow up woman

Posted by: chatty (5266)  Report abuse
Council's at it as well, god forbid you miss a council tax payment.

Posted by: whups (2350)  Report abuse
maybe not but we can blame her for everything else.

Posted by: billy (25908)  Report abuse
I'm saying nowt.....ya hear?

The transfer of wealth to the super-rich was the basic cause of the economic malaise that has blighted the last decade.

For detail, try reading Nobel Economist Joseph Stiglitz.

Basically, the rest of us were left with insufficient wealth to maintain consumption. So we could not purchase what the economy produced, and the resultant fall in demand led to reduced economic activity (sales, manufacture and the like) and hence to shrinking income, job losses, mortgage default and so on.

Bankers behaved badly, and made things worse than they need have been, but this process begins long before bankers get involved. In exchange for taking the blame, bankers have been rewarded with a lot of dosh, and the real causes continue unchecked.

Taxes withheld by the super-rich, had they been paid, the whole period of austerity would have been unnecessary.

And, there is considerable evidence that we are about to repeat this whole scenario over again!

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
I wonder what these people do in the real world. At the minute I read that someone who was awarded the Nobel peace prize at one time is standing by whilst thousands of people are slaughtered in what is being described as ethnic cleansing. Has Joseph ever run a major company, worked for a bank or is he someone that gets paid to produce theories that only like minded people understand.

Posted by: priscus (6013) Report abuse
By all means critique his analysis, but you will need to offer substantially more than that!

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
Iíll leave that to experts in big and plentiful words.

Posted by: gaffer (5910)   Report abuse
Broady

President Harry Truman said 'Give me a one-handed economist,' all my economists say, Ďon the one hand...on the other'.

Posted by: chatty (5266)  Report abuse
The definition of an economist:
Someone who will tell you tomorrow why what he predicted yesterday to happen today didn't!

Posted by: aussie94 (1576) Report abuse
]Ah the monarchists , touching their forelocks to their betters down on their knees to the mob whose cousins and relatives started WW1 killing millions . They are a relic of a bygone age , like something out of a Gilbert and Sullivan Opera , prancing around in their ridiculous costumes .

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
You talk bilge. I admire the Queen but donít get on my knees to anyone. Did I read the Aussie PM or similar was evading taxes also.

Posted by: jarvo (27698)  Report abuse
...Those 'miners'...They fooled the lot of yers...They were never short of money...

EVER!

Posted by: whups (2350)  Report abuse
what do you know jarvo. did you ever work in the mines ? . if you did then you should be ashamed of yourself.

Posted by: jarvo (27698)  Report abuse
Ashamed? And why's that then?

Posted by: Tommy Two Stroke (1771) Report abuse
I wish I had been a miner

Posted by: grimshaw (726)  Report abuse
Whups.

Posted by: broady (12648)   Report abuse
Being from mining stock I certainly wouldn't/ daren't denigrate them. However next time you switch on your gas fires think about the guys that worked to get that gas from the middle of the North Sea or wherever to get it into your front room. That work wasn't always a bed of roses.
