Planning application A/17/84450/MAJ

Say goodbye to your bit of greenbelt, mullingnux has got his way after all, and you all thought he was concerned about the greenbelt.
Remember? the drains were already laid 4 years ago under the pretext of agricultural works. The builder boys will be happy ,won't they?

Remember don't waste your precious time wading through legal tripe, there's only one approach:

VOTE IT OUT OR WE VOTE YOU OUT

simples.

Avoid the facts change the subject resort to personal abuse.

Quiet yet about "The Bell", the prescotts must be bricking it, too many ex-professional people to fight around there.

Funny you should mention Bins. Our fancy expensive coloured leaflet from your friends says NO collections for our street on the 7th. Sept, yet the website of your friends says GREEN & BROWN Bins to be collected on 7th. Sept. What a set of overpaid incompetent tossers.

I can only feel sympathy for what is obviously a very tortured mind.

Have you considered asking for help? Anger management classes? The Samaritans perhaps?

I believe psychiatrists are available on the NHS, perhaps you should seek a referral from your GP, it would do you a world of good

Posted by: Tommy Two Stroke (1631) Report abuse

Posted by: John59 (353)  Report abuse
as for the application, a few clarifications ...
theknow nowt in the article who says that outline permission is already granted knows nowt - the scheme being proposed is NOT a reserved matters application for that outline permission. That's because several of the original applicants have a) buggered off to try to get more money or b)in family dispute about whether or not to sell their land c) can't sell their land because it lies directly on the line of the Ashton fault so their cosy relationship with their friends the developer has cooled somewhat !!!!

Another clarification - no 'relief road' is being proposed in this application, because they don't have the land to build it. Hence the situation will be even worse than for the original proposals (which were fatally flawed anyway).

And ... ASBESTOS ... there's asbestos been found in them there (whit)hills ! This is fact.

And .... if anyone knows contact details for that git of a yorksire planning manager who declared that the roman road was 'just a rumour' then let me know as he needs to be informed that it's been confirmed that it's there !!!!! Fact.
Interestingly, while the original outline permission catered for 'building round it' this application has changed tack to concreting it over ! Surely a sound foundation (sic) for rejection of their plans alone.

Are you thinking of Steve Normington? He left his position with Wigan Council over 2 years ago.
He is now employed as an inspector with the UK Planning Inspectorate.

Posted by: Tommy Two Stroke (1631) Report abuse
It's Toot Hill and nowt doo with Whit (Whitson)

Posted by: John59 (353)  Report abuse
Gaffer, no it wasn't Normington, although he was guilty odėf aiding and abetting !
It was Mike Worden, yet ANOTHER white roser !
He tried to shout down the speaker on behalf of the public when it was raised !!!
Don't get me started on the subject of public being allowed to speak for 4 minutes either, and that's not each person who wants to speak, it's for a single person who people who want to speak are supposed to agree on can speak for them also from 30 minutes before the meeting starts.
I mean you couldn't make it up could you.
4 minutes is fine for someone wanting to object to a neighbours bathroom extension, but for a major application like this and any others it's ridiculous, mind-boggling ridiculous.
Normington is interesting because I was told recently that he had retired !!! I reckon he was pushed and took a nice pay-off wth him.
Any idea what part of the organisation he's landed in ?

oh and thanks for posting the map for tonker to prove my point :-)

here's a couple of slightly wider view maps to disprove Two Stroke's hypothesis that Toot was a Hill. It was in fact a toffee lolly that blew like a whistle :-)

First from 1842, it's miles away from the field where the planning application is ! *right-click on map and then select either 'view image' or save image' to see full size image, since Toothill is off screen to right *( :-

then 50 years later in 1892, when it's clearly indicated as the site of an early Jehovah's Witness's printworks - they get everyehere they do :O) ). Clearly they wouldn't have been able to plonk 157 houses on top of it (it was probably just a small mound), although with WMBClowncil you never know !
There's also the small matter of Stephenson's heritage which seperates it from the area of Sparrow Fields.

*again,, Toothill is once again off screen to right (it hadn't moved in the intervening 50 yrs unlike what it appears to have on Two Stroke's maps ;-) ), so right-click on map and then select either 'view image' or save image' to see full size image *

Which prompts me also to point out another of the lies wafted about willy nilly at the time of the planning meeting 1 1/2 years ago, which was that the land is ex-mining land being regenerated. Another Worden-ism, since the whole of sparrow fields has never been mined from the surface.

BTW - did you know that the HEAD OF PLANNING did a runner 6 months or so ago ?
Yes, disappeared leaving the ship in the lurch as it were.
Maybe that's linked to the rumours going around a few weeks back about building inspectors, etc ...
Anyway, they've just appointed his replacement(probably yet another yorkshireman) who I think is due to start any day now. Except he's not a replacement as such, it's another post which will include his responsabilities but is aimed towards the GM SF development/destruction nonsense.

I mean you couldn't make it all up , it's like Dallas innit ?

I wonder if that well-known DIVA , Christine Green, whose 'difficult' life-story explains perfectly to a psychiatrist her megalomaniac tendancies, will be next to do a bunk ... with a hefty 'pension' arrangement of course.
I chuckled out loud when I saw her quote in that article linked to above her 'inspiration' Christine Lagarde.
That's the Christine Lagarde who was convicted last year in the french courts concerning the farce around the Bernard Tapie scandal and punished by ..... well, nothing actually, no fine, no prison, nothing. Condemned and no punishment.I can see why Christine & other CE's around the country might bestow lavish praise upon her shoulders.

Posted by: tonker (18932)   Report abuse
Stardelts. It's very, very, clear that the Labour party are NOT in power in Wigan (or anywhere else in the surrounding area for that matter).
Everything that is being complained about, ie: cutbacks and developments, are all done as a result of directives from the government.
Wigan Council (not Wigan borough ward councillors) are Conservative controlled.

Posted by: Stardelta (5796) Report abuse
Labour are the ruling party within Wigan council, on the basis more councillors are members of the labour party than any other, by a considerable margin.

True they take orders and directives from the conservative controlled central government but let's not spoil it for the haters

I have always been curious to know why the haters want labour out......because it won't really change a thing.

Posted by: tonker (18932)   Report abuse
"Labour are the ruling party within Wigan council ...."

No. They're not. 'Wigan Council' consists of Government Employees who carry out the running of the area on their employers behalf and under orders from their employers, the UK Government.

On the other hand, Labour are the ruling party within 'Wigan Borough Ward Councillors'.

"let's not spoil it for the haters ..."

But they need to be educated!

"I have always been curious to know why the haters want labour out ...... because it won't really change a thing".

Tonker's spot on when he says:
" 'Wigan Council' consists of Government Employees who carry out the running of the area on their employers behalf and under orders from their employers, the UK Government. "

You onl have to see the replies of planners to any query about the housing fiasco.
Even if anything contravenes their own 'Core Strategy' (which is a misnomer and should be re-titled 'Core Ballsup') they fall back on - it's govermėnment policy to build twice as many houses as we need/can actually do ... .cue arms thown inair / shoulder shrug .... what can we do ?

Well I'll tel lyhm what they can do - they can revolt (yes I know they're already revolting ;-)) and just don't do things they're 'asked' to do when it's not in the best interests of the town and the people who live here already.

There's a list a mile long of cock-ups in recent years.

The problem also is that the council is not Labour controlled, it's new-labour controlled. What we need is a council of SOCIALIST Labour counvėcillors who aren't afraid to stand up and be counted when it's right to.

The problem is now worse because there's the GM middleman to deal with.
We need to go back to the old system - individual towns with their own mayrs who have responsability at local level too. After all I thought that's the point about local politics- Local people putting local interests first !
The MP's are the same - Sovague in particular. She doesn't give a fart for saving Sparrow fields at Bryn but is trying to pull out all the stops to stop a development backing on to her back garden !!! Her 'personal research assistant' is none other than an Ashton councillor, so whenever you right to her you get a rply from him. All the others tow the line do it's useless trying to debate anything with them.
Don't get me started about why Leigh gets Ģ3m investment and Ashton not a sausage apart from a lick of paint on the market containers (last year) .... oh .... and here's a good one - plans to replace said permant market stalls with pergola style 'awnings' and make the whole area for parking. If they've nothing to hide then why aren't they going to apply to themselves for planning permission then ???? Why ?
Change of use from market stalls to parking spaces for 5 out of 7 days of the week. I bet there's no money to replace the awnings when they get the worse for wear. And the stallholders - where do they stock goods from now on ?
Ah yes, in their homes, as part of 'The Steal'.

Posted by: Tommy Two Stroke (1631) Report abuse
John59

Have you not heard, in that Leigh gets nowt and Wigan gets everything, I think we can agree in that Leigh gets everything,,, proper road bypasses, guided busways and look at their market, it is thriving and that market is run by the same council, which runs Wigan market, so why is Wigan market dying and Leigh market is thriving ????

Answer: Because the council shows favouritism towards Leigh

Now I wonder why that is ?????????????
