Locks

Started by: priscus (inactive)

Just watched some YouTube video on opening locks bowt key.

Although, my front door is equipped with two locks: a mortice deadlock and a cylinder rim latch, and the latter is 'insurance approved' type (meaning needs key to unlock, even from inside, so can not open by breaking glass to reach inside to release lock)......

And, I had been feeling safe and secure............

I now realise, that anyone who knows what they were about, could open these and gain access just as easily as if they were in possession of a key.

Just tried the techniques myself on my own front door.

Two locks on the main door, and another on outer porch door.

Took me less than two minutes to overcome all three locks without a key. (and without damaging the locks)

Yes, it is very worrying. Will have to beef up front door security.
