Litter..........

Started by: blackrodweaver (628)

Back in the 50's and 60's and up to the early 80's I suppose we had blokes going round with there trollies with bins on collecting Litter all round Aspull, Blackrod Wigan, etc etc.
Now sadly the state of our street's and Towns are appallingly full of the stuff. Whats the answer to clean it up..

Well what Wigan Clowns want us to do is to pick it up for them and in return they will increase out council tax, you couldn't make it up

Fast food Ipackaging is the problem to today's litter....it used to be fag packets years ago ...we used to walk miles in the holidays to collect them...is the answer with the individual or the fast food companies...or both

Ask fast food customers if they want to pay half as much again for packaging or do without packaging
After all wea are given the option for plastic bags.

It's a blight everywhere in the town and country too. Absolutely no need for it at all. Put it a bin or take it home with you that's all it takes.

Of course it's the people who drop it, no one else to blame.

As was said to me the other day, the people who are watching for folk dropping cigarette butts in the street and then walking up and challenging the perpetrators and reporting them for prosecution, these 'Environmental Protection' officers, then why are they not following folk around on a Saturday night who are dropping food and food packaging on to the street, making far more mess than a cigarette butt

Because you would probably get your head kicked in on a Saturday night if you approached some nutter

Absolutely, they will have done the risk assessments and concluded the risk of personal injury is too great

King st and surrounding areas gets cleansed on a Sunday morning anyway so why bother wasting resources.

A no go area then, even though criminal offences are committed that other, easier targets are being fined for?

I just don't understand the mentality of dropping litter or vandalsim and never will. My children used to come home from school with blazer/coat pockets full of wrappers/tissues/bits of paper etc. which meant they had listened to what I had told them about not dropping litter.

There's absolutely no need to throw rubbish on the floor, but people who throw takeaways on the floor are the worst, you know, things like chips, chicken bones, pizza etc. It's a health hazard, could attract rats etc. They should be fined,if caught.
