Superstition.

Friday the 13th tomorrow. Are you superstitious? My mother was, she really believed all the daft things like not walking under ladders, no crossed knives on the table etc.

'Triskaidekaphobia'...the fear of Friday the thirteenth, I read that on the underside of a ladder one day while out for a walk.

Triskaidekaphobia. Never heard the word before, so your fearless walk under a ladder has taught me something.

I'll deliberately walk under a ladder..and defy the devil.

avoiding walking under a ladder was alway a good idea, not because of superstition but people up the ladder sometimes dropped thing, paint while decorating or worse still tools especially hammers

Mind you,I'm not going to walk under if there's a chappie up there with a tin
of paint in his hand. or any tools.

apart from having my appendix and knee cartelidge removed and surviving a heart attack
