I've
Got myself into all sorts of trouble with my British dry sense of humor in the USA , the word "inappropriate " keeps raising its ugly head, is this a growing phenomenon in the UK, there'll be a time I believe in the not to distant future when zero conversation will be the norm and people will lose the use of their vocal cords.

I remember reading an Isaac Asimov book, it may have been "caves of steel" were people talked to each other not in a physical presents but in hologram form to avoid breathing the others air just in case they got infected with the others germs.
Similar to WW. Lol

It's not PC to say anything negative. So every one is walking on eggshells all the time. I noticed when we were in Oz how annoyingly and falsely nice almost everyone was. Especially in the shops and supermarkets, really got on my nerves.

I've alway been used to calling a spade a spade, call it a norther trait, I tell people if you don't like what you hear go somewhere else

A spade's a spade. You can paint it and put a ruffle round it but it's still a spade. There's lots of things we said as kids that I daren't put on here these days, but they were never meant in a derogatory manner, and people in those days didn't take offence. You have to think twice before you open your mouth these days!

I think that's a sad state of affairs...

What have you said britboy? No best not answer that Did you actually offend someone directly or were they offended on someone else's behalf (if you know what I mean)?

I just think people take offense at a lot of things that many years gone by would not have even been given a second thought and more than likely be just laughed off.

For instance ...if a lady got angry, saying to her "keep ya pants dry" would be a big no no these days!

And the reply. "Stop being a big jessie". Would not go down too well either.

In the 80s being politically correct was right on. Those right on uni graduates are now running things and being PC is mainstream. Perhaps the next generation will rebel against it.

My wife has a nephew called Nick, his parents and family were always asking him " how you doing Nickers" lolol

Mick Harding did a sketch about the different meaning of words in the UK and America.
"I need some rubbers. I keep making terrible mistakes."
EDIT
I found the Mike Harding sketch on YouTube, it's called A Limey In New York.

Universities used to be seats of learning and melting pots of different political opinions. Today they seem to be ruled by the new liberal fascists who only accommodate a PC outlook.
As for Mike Harding ,Arrow , he's a right thin skinned git, I fell out with him on a social media site , he deleted me then insulted me to all his followers when he knew I had no means of reply.
The Rochdale Cowboy? more like The Rochdale Crybaby.
