Lankykats

Started by: 1934granadascruggs (1258)

I had a mooch up there, tonight. With a couple of friends.

I've never attended before.

Great audience, and bands. All live! Great atmosphere.

I met some fantastic people, and proper instrument players.(unlike myself)
Well done to Bill Hart(Billy Shym) who helps to keep it going.

His enthusiasm is endless.

Has anyone else been up to the Lankykats over the years?

If so, what do you think?

Bennie, Granada: I can't take to that kind of stuff. There's nothing of substance to it.

Listen to 'Best o't Bunch' by the Oldham Tinkers. Recorded in 1972, it's a group playing Lancashire music with meaning and depth.

A very moving album.

And Larry Kearns has the voice of an Angel.

Lankykats are not a band.
Its just the name of the organization..

They have different bands on, all the time.

Not the same bands week in, week out. Four bands on in one night.

All genre's of music. Not, all the same.

Its good

We did 64 musicians on the day which means Lankykats NEBB 64 are the North of Englands Biggest Band. A far cry from the 2267 we needed to beat the existing UK record.

I have now found out how apathetic local musicians are... If you lot want to get together form a 'new' band just call it 'Cynics Corner' will ya!

Hi all Lankykats... Please don't park on the new ALDI car park in Standish. We had an agreement with the previous owners The Co-op but Aldi do not honour this and some Lankykat people are being fined for illegal parking. We are going to negotiate with the new owners asap.. but for now steer clear! Bill Hart

Thanks for that info, Bill. I Wouldn't have known otherwise.
I'll be glued to the radio

I knew Ian P very well. And, his siblings and parents. We were brought up on the same manor. I've not seen him for a few years though.

I'll drop on him someday and catch up on some great old times growing up on the Lane in the 1960's and 70's

1934granadascruggs,
If I were you I would grab the opportunity being offered to you by Bill, because I am sure you will really enjoy playing at The Unity Club.
On those Thursday evenings,it is a great place,it has a great atmosphere and it always has a great crowd. The audience and fellow musicians give their support and greatly appreciate a live band.

Lankykats are famous for providing 'four live bands for a quid...' and we will always resist increasing our door admission fee of a £1.
People often say we are 'too cheap' and a night out at Lankykats is worth a lot more that!

We say... "we are happy with the way things are and we don't want to change anything." However, if people feel that they would like to tip-up more than £1 on the door (as some people already do) then you are more than welcome to do so. Then again you can always buy more raffle tickets or put your loose change in the charity bucket at the end of the night.

As you know, nobody gets paid at Lankykats where everyone is a willing volunteer and this income funds our state-of-the-art sound equipment and our eight delegated charities.

Either way we will continue to supply you with a happy smiling face at the end of each and every night you spend with us... Rock 'n roll forever...
Billy Lankykat.
