Great film, but so sad. I had many a date there with my girlfriend in the early sixties.Even went dancing above the main entrance, can't remember the name of the dance hall.

aside and for what !!!

Are you all in your Dotage!! Yes there were long queues, I was in them, about 45 to 50 years ago! Yes you would have spent many hours dancing there, about 50 years ago! Momac, the lush carpeting would have been not worth two blows on a ragmans trumpet by the time that the Ritz closed! As far as I'm aware the Ritz, like other cinemas was privately owned and it shut because no bugger went!! By the way I do think it was a magnificent building! Here's a link to an article:

So an outdated, redundant, unwanted building with no value other than the land it was built on was sold by its owners, demolished by its new owners, the land used for something else and it's all the councils fault.

Really?

sad dog
same as the palais de dance. outdated, unused ,unloved, you really are a moronic blind fool.
why knock the pally down to house that concrete monstrosity the millgate council office .a blot on the landscape, even if it had been placed in a russian housing complex.
are you really comparing the ritz and the palias with that cringworthy piece of concrete.
