PeterP how can you fasten up a hanging basket? a pair of pliers can easily cut through any chains.

Peter G nothing will stop a light fingered thief but you can deter some. I used to wire mine onto the bracket but if some one wanted them they would just rip the brackets off the wall

Anyone pinching baskets want hanging!

Had mine chained up with a cycle lock all last year, when coming to change it this year I've realised I'd wrapped it round the wrong way and anybody wanting it could have unhooked it and strolled off.

Had my front hanging basket taken last weekend, only realised when I turned round to look at the house on my way out. Some people will take anything, I didn't realise you could get locks for them.

short piece of chain from b&q and a padlock that's what I did with mine , they couldn't steal basket so they just turned it upside down and tipped everything out . you cant win with these scrotes and newtown is full of them .

anter, I feel so sorry for you that mindless yobs won't let you brighten up your house/garden with flowers, I only hope they meet Karma one day and find how it feels,

Some years ago my hanging baskets kept getting thrown at until they
knocked all the flowers out.Id just come home from work ,said to my hubby
I'm leaving my car keys in the hall and I'll be ready..then heard the stones
hitting the baskets,I grabbed my keys shot after them, chased them all
around the estate.it was raining I had no shoes on but I followed them until
one of them ran into a house, went to the front door banged hard and his Dad came to the door..I knocked their hanging basket and said"see this I
can't have one due to your Son and his mates"the lad was on the landing,
his Dad said I'm sorry about that love,I'll see to it he never does it again,
shouting to his Son,get in that bloody room til I say you can come out...I was driving round half an hour chasing them..but it worked.

I did that once momac.. different reason, but still, they needed to learn.. I followed them very slowly and they knew who I was. When they went in, I went and knocked on the door, told the parents what had happened and it never happened again..
That was 30 yrs ago, I'd get arrested doing that now, a adult, following kids.. I'd be the bad guy, not the the kids...

Yes Jouell,I quite agree, but do you know what,I'd risk anything if I thought
I was in the right...Id do it all over again even though I like you was a lot younger.

There are several people I know have those NanJ.
I had some lovely hanging baskets with mimulus and if I say it myself they were breathtaking. Some scrote took a liking to them.I eventually tracket them down after much hunting to the local council estate so I poisoned them. The hanging baskets not the scrote.
