It was finally approved today by a meeting of AGMA, which coincidentally was held at Wigan Town Hall

It is on this YooTube video between 16.20 and 18.25 and Lord Peter Smith makes some nice comments about it

Well bugger me basil (well don't cos I don't want a fox up me jacksy) once again on't same morning I have to congratulate yoo on that spellbinding information, which I google about every other day and yoo have found it for me, so new road starts building next month does it, or do they mean June next year, so I will still only believe it when I see it

So it's a firm from Welsh Wales who have got it, well it's time to start to worry folks, about worrying and by that I mean 'sheep worrying' so lock up your sheep and keep them safe

Jathbee will be cussing me now, cos I have given a compliment to basil

its merely moving the traffic chaos from one place to another, mind you if they dont get a move on it will soon be costed at£25 million.
who is going to go another two miles out of their way and end up gridlocked at the bridge of sighs(marus),when you can use the direct route via poolstock lane to the bridge.

there's too many cars on the road

When the project was retendered some 12 months ago a date in October was given for the start of the job, AGMA/TFGM released the money for the project at the beginning of February this year and Wigan Council said that the successful bidder would be announced in March ...

I think when there is a firm start date, the council will be full of it and they will make a big announcement about it, because they did that when the Marus Bridge junction scheme was announced, council gave about three months notice about that, but saying that, that was because the junction scheme was going to impact the main traffic flow into Wigan from the South in a big way and they weren't wrong, were they ....

How do you come to yours. Pem will not be cut off from the rest of the world, it's a loop road to take the traffic that is going in the direction of Wigan, to Wigan. Anyone wanting to come to Pem will still be able to do so.

People who come through Pem on there way to Wigan and have no business to do in Pem will just carry on down Ormskirk road. They are not going to stop off in Pem for a look around the shops or call for a pie or Kentucky. Pem is not flourishing off passing trade, nor is Ormskirk Road.
It's flourishing from local trade, as it always has.

Sorry, but I disagree.

I work in Skelmersdale and you'd be surprised how many folk call in on their way to Wigan.

Now it will be easier (so they might think) to bypass Pem and go as far as Leigh and beyond.

Not good.

Replied: 25th May 2018 at 17:06

Posted by: jathbee (11463)

They can stil come through Pem on their way to Wigan, it probably will be a lot less busy with heavy traffic being taken by the loop road.
And yes I would be surprised if many people broke their journey to Wigan just call in. There is very lttle convenient parking as it is.

Passing traffic does not stop in Pemberton to shop, because it is difficult to park and even more difficult to get back into the traffic on the main road and throughout the years as already stated Pemberton has continued to thrive, whilst places like Hindley have died

yeah thats about right, build a new road to try and i repeat try to alleviate congestion.
what happens next, they fill the surrounding district with retail parks, industry and a few thousand houses ,end of trying to alleviate traffic congestion.

I agree with you, because a few Saturdays ago, it took me about 20 mins to get from the former kamikaze junction, to the Kirk Hall Lane junction, traffic from Asda, Sainsbury's and the retail park was snarling everything up, in fact if I can help it I won't go that way again at that time ...

the new bypass will be inundated with housing, offices and other industries.what price wigan rovers ground becoming another housing estate within the next few years, then it will be the turn of the wildnerness between the canal on chapel lane and the new road after that.
cramming more and more urban sprawl into wigan,s vanishing open spaces.
someone is crowing about three ,yes as many as three new football pitches on the new rose hill development.all i can say is this, some folk are easily pleased with WMBC,S attempt at shutting up the people that protest by fobbing them off with football pitches.
they could have played at little lane but our,ie the peoples land at little lane, as been sold to the lowest bidder a private football club.
nyce horse as a very valid point with WMBC UNTRUSTWORTHY AND DEVIOUS.LET THE MUSHROOMS GROW IN THE DARK.
