dougie, I was one of those young lads, couldn't wait for the 16th June. There should be a CLOSE SEASON for playing with Mobile phones?

Peter--Yes their must be as I see people fishing when I've walk past but never noticed if they have a closed season for the pond or not
admin--There should be a CLOSE SEASON for playing with Mobile phones? I bet you've one of the top phones yourself and never off it , I've a phone from Asda £7 + £5 top-ups no one as the phone number as I don't carry it with me, it's just in the clove compartment with a charger in the car for emergency use only, I could live without a phone

DOUGIE, MY PHONE IS 6 YEARS OLD AND I PAY £5.00 MONTH, IF I USE IT A COUPLE OF TIMES A MONTH, THAT'S ALL. I VERY RARELY CARRY IT WITH ME. AND I ONLY USE IT TO PHONE PEOPLE OR SEND MESSAGES. OFF HAND I COULDN'T EVEN TELL YOU THE NUMBER. I ALSO HAVE AN OLD NOKIA PHONE WHICH I LEAVE IN THE CAR. IN CASE I BREAK DOWN.

O.K. Back to fishing I was at Garswood Hall Bowling Club last night and we got talking about the Fishing Club they had in the 50s and still have, ?(anyone on here a member 50s) as a junior member you could go on the fishing trips with them to the Lancashire canal and other places as long as a senior member booked you on the trip with them, I've never fished for years but I asked should the closed season March to June have remand in force we agreed Yes it did us to harm not fishing but would've done the fish more good not being handled

The closed season was to do with allowing the fish to breed.
That was the explanation I was given.

Used to love Pike fishing back in the day
Still have rods & Reels but not fished for years

I was informed had nothing to do with fish breeding as fish species spawn at differant times also the weather can change thier spawning time
IT was some kind of agreement to do with fishing in the south to fishing in the north.

I always understood it was to let the fish breed during the close season, used to see lots of little spawners during this period. You could buy a trout licence to fish rivers during the close season.

We came to the conclusion the closed season was to stop all fish from being handled by hand breeding or not, as someone pointed out they breed at different times it was a three month window that would help all fish, not the fishermen

We came to the conclusion the closed season was set up by members of the women's liberation front to make sure the decorating got done at least once a year!
