Borough Life Magazine
Started by: PeterP (6837) Report abuse
Last night a vote was taken on the BLM being scrapped . This was defeated. The council say the magazine is produced 3 times a year and distributed to over 114000 homes Ours must be one they miss never had a copy since we came to live here which is over 5 years ago How many people who do get the magazine read it

Posted by: retep1949 (456) Report abuse
We have not had one delivered for years.Usually pick one to read while I wait for my wife in the Grand Arcade. They had a stack of the winter issue there this week.In my opinion it should be scrapped.

Posted by: Anne (3428)  Report abuse
It is delivered, has been for years. Can't say I read it, flick through it. Adds don't need, always ask for recommendations or use people I know.

Posted by: ann-spam (3348)  Report abuse
i think it should be scrapped and use the money for other things

Posted by: mindar (1077) Report abuse
You can read it, or not read it, on line.

Posted by: PeterP (6837) Report abuse
Mindar I know it is on line but the council spend £80000 to print and distribute this rag and allege they deliver to all households in the Wigan area. I was pointing out we do not get a copy and have never had a copy since we moved over 5 years ago. I have read the issues on line and for me they should scrap it and spend the £80000 on something more constructive

Posted by: mindar (1077) Report abuse
Peterp have you by any chance singed up to, or maybe previous occupant did

Post office unaddressed mail

Posted by: mortarmillbill (428) Report abuse
Minder
That may be the reason that we have not had any for few years.

Posted by: mindar (1077) Report abuse
I've no doubt MMbill. If thats the choice people make, bear in mind that postmen's jobs will be put at risk as it's the bulk of their work now.

Posted by: PeterP (6837) Report abuse
Mindar I commented on junk mail on the 28 Th Feb and keep a bin just for the paper junk but it would be nice to add the Borough Life Magazine to the bin

Posted by: jo anne (31915)   Report abuse
Weíve had Borough Life magazines delivered, but Iím not sure it was by Royal Mail:

Tender notice (2 year contract) - Closed 5th Mar 2019

Wigan Council is looking for an experienced provider with a detailed understanding of how to manage mass delivery services to deliver 'Borough Life', Wigan Council's resident's magazine, to every household in Wigan Borough.

Do you ever stop moaning?

Posted by: PeterP (6837) Report abuse

good to see SD has not lost his defender of the metro tag.
when a council cries poverty like wmbc does so many ,many times.one wonders where they can possibly find justification for such misuse of council tax payers hard earned cash on a fairly lack lustre publication.
for first time in many months i was uptown last week to see that the market place is being revamped once again.
how many more times before they get it right.
i could have saved them the odd shilling or two by scrapping the hard to get to new bus station and merely opened up the town centre to return to the pre 1970,s and have bus stops in the town centre ,right next to the shops.
why oh why does a bus not go onto robin park retail, instead of having to use your cars all the time..

I can easily accept you think it's a waste Hoss, but others dont. So who is right and who is wrong?

Try and keep the answer sensible for once eh?

Probably all those who don't have an agenda against the council Hoss, and who and let's face it, are the vast majority of the borough's 320,000 odd thousand residents.

Got a better answer?.......I doubt it

Posted by: baker boy (14120) Report abuse
good to see your still WMBC'S faithful hound only person i know who does agree with SD is bosom buddy basil.
a more incongruous pair you are ever likely to find.

Posted by: Stardelta (6496) Report abuse
So....let me get this right.

If you are not moaning and whinging every 5 minutes about the council, OR you show any sort of support for them or their actions OR even sit on the fence YOU must by definition be an employee and as such are open to and fit only for ridicule and insult?

Tsk tsk tsk.

And you wonder why I call you Brainless???

Posted by: nyce horse (3414) Report abuse
WE WANT YOU
WE WANT YOU
WE WANT YOU AS A NEW RECRUIT

hahahahahahahoohhoaghahahha

fifty thousand for a staff love in in works time, eighty grand three times a year for wmbc signal magazine, three million sweetener to contessa to go ahead at Haigh hall, money wasted on town centre... it really is a laugh a minute
The council tax could be half what it is. God knows whats still to be uncovered.

did i say you where an employee or even donna hall or cllr molly.if the council,s slack attitude to spending its taxpayers money is not to be criticised, then indeed i and others are brain dead.however we are not as gormless as the folk who keep voting for the supposed peoples party,or indeed the council,s very own wiganworld champion of such slackness.have a nice day champ or is that chump.

Posted by: nyce horse (3414) Report abuse
I wonder how the clowncil managed to reach a spending sum of fifty thousand pounds at the staff love in?? did they buy everybody flowers and chocs? did they pay everybody a bonus? seeing that it was in works time it cost nowt to arrange.
Perhaps it was expenses travelling from the job to the Life centre?
How does an in-house meeting accrue costs? The support group have got me on that one, wonder if they know?

I see she's due another court appearance, that should be interesting.

Posted by: Stardelta (6496) Report abuse
Despite all the accusations from the same old people, yourself included, has she actually been convicted of an offence in a court of law Hoss? I know some of the decisions she has made on behalf of the council have been challenged in court via judicial review but this happens all the time and isn't really a criminal trial in the true sense, (prosecution, defence, summing up, verdict, sentence etc).....as anyone who knows about these things will be happy to tell you.

So tell us, despite all the insinuations that she is a criminal has SHE been fined or received a sentance?

A simple Y/N will do.......or shall I leave it with you?

Posted by: nyce horse (3414) Report abuse
Using the police to stop a democratically elected councillors enter a council meeting is criminal enough for me.

Posted by: Stardelta (6496) Report abuse
Unless of course there was a strong suspicion or strong belief that the said individual, democratically elected or not intended to cause an offence, be it physical or verbal.

Given the recent behaviour and appalling conduct (tantrums) displayed by certain democratically elected (independent) councillors I think it was a good call.....don't you?

That's nothing Brainless!

Someone in here once threatened to sue me. The person concerned liked to dish it out but didn't like it when he got it back.

Despite all the big talk nothing ever came of it.

Pathetic and somewhat sad......but very amusing. I still have a little giggle to myself over it all every time he pops out of the woodwork and takes the odd swipe

There a few on here get nasty when they don't get there own way, obviously not as many since they had the clear out, we don't have a pretend big lad, who use to get personal and threaten you, when people stood up to the coward
