Mitchell Street area - take care

Started by: mortarmillbill (960)

Workmen have this morning reversed the direction of traffic on the streets near Alexandra Park bowling green.

You cannot turn into Mitchell Street near the car showrooms anymore. This is now for exiting traffic only.

Years ago that was a smashing shortcut on to Ormskirk Road, yoo didn't even need to slow down

It is definitely a lot safer now as the sight lines are clear at the new exit on Mitchell Street.

The old exit on Manor Street was dangerous due to all the cars parked on Victoria Street.

That is very true that, it was terrible turning left because of the lack of visibility from those parked vehicles and turning right was even worse.

But going back to when yoo could drive down to Ormskirk Road, it was a lot quicker to get to where you were going via Mitchell Street and on to Ormskirk Road that way, rather than fannying about at the Half Way House, but the powers that bee, decided that it was a Hamster Run and hence blosked off the Ormskirk Road end of Mitchell Street

Due to the number of cars not seeing the new No Entry signs two more No Entry signs have been placed on the pavement at the Mitchell Street/Victoria Street junction.

I worry about some of the "professional drivers" though as a taxi from Premier Cars drove through the 4 no entry signs this morning.
