The 1968 Challenge Cup Final...
Started by: jarvo (28451)  Report abuse
Anyone watch this on BBC2 yesterday?

Featuring former players from that memorable final that was played in a rain storm.

A touching and moving account of that fateful day for Don Fox. Also brought back wonderful memories of the brilliant Eddie Waring who brought the game of RL to life on our black and white screens.

Worth watching on catch up TV.

Shouldnt this be on sport

Agreed jarvo, brilliant documentary, a truly touching story of what torment Don Fox went through after missing that goal, but he was awarded the Lance Todd trophy for which some people overlook because of the missed goal kick. Well worth a watch👍

Stars: Don Fox had to speak to David Coleman after the game. Completely gutted, he spoke and thanked Coleman for his interest.

Not many men could have done that under those circumstances.

Should be on the sports section.

No, not this one. This is about the occasion; and what it did to a human being.

Watch it, miserable chops...and learn about humility.

It's sport is it not? Humility? Try a spoonful ot two yourself. You bitter old fool.

Yes mindar, I saw that. The idiot thinks he's entitled to pass his opinion but no one else can. He's a little dictator or try's to be. What a total nitwit, continually makes a show of himself. But he does own the Fishergate pub, so that makes him some kind of Lord I suppose 🕵 😂😂😂

Lord Haw Haw.

Yes. And he's just about as funny too.

it was a really good programme. Fox must have felt so bad and it's sad that he carried that weight for the rest of his life.

Posted by: jarvo (28451)  Report abuse
Yes, it was, Kath. Pity that imbeciles like Jathwasp cannot appreciate it.

There were some really touching moments.

Sad.

Eddie waring must be the worse commentator ever...granted he had vast knowledge...I think..but he couldn’t put it across.....a joke really..shame he was a good guy

Posted by: jathbee (9041) Report abuse
Indeed Roy.

Eddie Waring was brilliant commentator.

A one off!

I am afraid I have to side with Jarvo on this one. Certainly better than the current Sky crew. I met him and Eric Clay having a few drinks in a club in Rochdale once and we had a great couple of hours talking Rugby and old characters. Two guys who had RL running through their veins.

Agree 👍 jarvo, one of a kind

Sad postscript to this match. 8 weeks after the final the referees wife committed suicide.12 months later the referee also committed suicide.
