Basil

Thank you for taking time out to provide fellow Wigan Worlders with links such as this.

I don't read any local newspapers, on-line or otherwise, but I am local to this development and also know that Jarvo is totally opposed to it. It is always good to see it progress towards construction.

Yes, but they never go ahead with these projects do they, I think next the Government will scupper the whole idea of the M58 Link Road and the Westwood Link Road, by saying that they are once again interested in completing the M58 by linking it to the M61 at Cowyed land and that the proposed route will take it along where the aforementioned two link roads are to be built, so no link roads and almost certainly no M58 extension

I have gone From optimist to pessimist in less than two short years

It's a brilliant piece of news.

If it was built it would be brilliant, but it won't be built, because they never build them, they just talk about building them

Definite goer TT; Highways England have this week signed off £15.9m of funding for the scheme adding:

‘’The link road will create a new high profile gateway into Wigan town centre from the M58/M6 and connect a number of key employment sites to the strategic highways network, bringing the opportunity to create new jobs and contribute to economic growth. The new link road is currently planned to open to traffic by the end of 2020’’

And what has happened to the Westwood Link Road?

No one gives a monkeys about Wigan and that includes any party at Westminster,

This road will make Pemberton redundant - done and dusted.

Little engineering knowledge has been considered here. The ex Lancashire and Yorkshire railway line is king; I do hope that they ('The Engineers') have taken this on board.

The double roundabout across the Pemberton Station bridge will prove my point...I fear a total disaster.
