The W.H.A.M.M team would like to thank all those who supported our campaign to commemorate Wigan's mining history at the Diggers' Festival and Haigh 1940s Event over the weekend.

We didn't make it to the Diggers' Festival but it was good to see you at the WHAMM stall at Haigh 1940s event on Sunday. Well done to you all for working so hard to commemorate our town's miners. The bronze figurine of a Wigan Pit Brow Lass, just one of a range of goods available from WHAMM, looks fabulous on my fireplace and would grace any Wigan home; I feel proud that it commemorates my many relatives, male and female, who worked in the mines. Your future fundraising events promise to be great fun. I should really have made a note of the dates but am sure they will be on WHAMM's website. I wish you every success.

Thanks Irene. My cousin thinks you looked lovely in your 40s garb.
WHAMM has an event at the Village on the Green Aspull on 14th October featuring the Greater Manchester Police Band and a buffet supper. Tickets 12.
