Old Brewery on Warrington Lane, Lower Ince.
Started by: Jim Latham (77) Report abuse
Does anyone have any info on a Brewery located in the Douglas St. East area of Warrington Lane? It was near the Old Pepper Mill Brass Foundry.

Thanks.

H Jim what era? Have you got a name? I think I have some old bottles from the brewery? But off hand can't remember the name.

Jim

The 1890 map shows it as the Warrington Lane Brewery.
Also known as the James Fairhurst Brewery.

KB.

Thanks for that. I looked at the 1907/8 map which just says "Brewery"

Admin.

I think we are talking around the year 1900.

A brewer called Thomas Fairhurst lived at Gladstone House in Worsley Mesnes, just in front of W.M. Club. He has links to Worsley Mesnes Brewery in Warrington LANE. We assumed they meant Warrington ROAD, in Goose Green, since there is some evidence that he used the old Coach Road to transport his beer from GG to WM Club. (???)
He built a Mission Room behind Gladstone House which later became WM Club.
Thomas Fairhurst also built Kilhey Court. One story says this was an anniversary present for his wife.
He died in 1912, leaving 163,000 in his will.
