Does this help

1881 & 1891 census - address transcription
Address: 57 & 59 (Broomfield Inn, Broom St, Ince In Makerfield

1901 Census 1 Taylor's Yard Broom Street Ince in Makerfield Wigan Lancashire

A street that is on the same census sheet as Broom St in 1901 is Manchester Road it appears to cross Broom Street at No 44 Manchester Road id the Shovel and Broom Hotel a John T Taylor was the Publican

The Broomfield Oilworks also seems to be near Broom St and Manchester Road

Does Markland street sound familiar

In 1911 Machester Road was still there close by was 1 Victoria Street but No. 3 had been demolished No 5 - 31 standing

Broom Street didn't show in the 1911 census

The information given in the above was correct there was not a Broom Street in the 1911 census, but there was a Bolton Street so at some point betwwen 1901 - 1911 the name changed from Broom Street to Bolton Street

Below is a little information that may be of interest

From the forms to be completed by the enumerator for the census return

THE DESCRIPTION OF THE ENUMERATION DISTRICT

The description of the boundary and the contents of the Enumeration district given in the Memorandum and instruction book.

The West side of Victoria Street No’s 2 – 28 (even). The NE side of Gordon Street No’s 19 – 41 and the SW side of Gordon Street No’s 6 – 46. talktalk, I think Broom St was at Clarington Brook. There is a map showing it but I can't download it. Click on this link, type Ince in the search box and then click go. When the page opens you will see at the right hand side "All available maps". The top one is 1849 pre ww11 1:10560 Lancashire and Furness. Click on "enlarge map". Magnify by clicking on the map and look next to Clarington Forge.

talktalk, if it is any use to you, there were three families of Hilton's living in Broom St in 1881 at numbers 24, 30, 31. They could all be related.
