I used to eat all of the stuff listed, which for the most part, considerably enjoyed.

For the best part of seven decades, I managed to also stay slim.

Probably burning up fewer calories after retirement, but still (fairly) slim.

But when I quit smoking, the weight really piled on.

So for a long time now, NO sugary/fat chocs, sweets, cake, biscuits etc, even cream on my strawberries I have had to exclude. (no milk/sugar for over 30 years - my beverages black no S)

But shedding the belly fat was really difficult. Had to also squelch the grey carbs, particularly spuds and bread, which were two of my favourites, and a day packed full of NEAT!

So yes, reading this thread, I do feel deprived of the pleasures of partaking in the foodstuffs mentioned.

But it has certainly been worth it. The improvement in my health and general well-being is phenomenal. Even my GP says remarkable.

Enjoying life more, and considerably reduced meds which I need to take.

Nowadays, as I walk the supermarket isles, see the special offers such as 'Flake': Four for a Pound - I find myself uttering, "Resist: be kind to yourself. far less painful not to put on the excess in the first place"!
