DOBSON, Elizabeth - 1860

Notes / message: James Dobson (postman) married Ann Wassington in 1847. In the 1851 census they were recorded as living at Queens Street with their son Jas(on) Dobson aged 2 and their daughter Alice Dobson aged 3mths. In the 1859 James died leving his wife Ann (a washer woman) to care for their children Alice, Thomas, Alfred and Elizabeth. In 1861 they lived a Lea's Crt, Market Place.

Thomas Dobson b. 1854 a house joiner went on to marry Alice Parkinson b. 1866, in 1885 at St Catherine they lived at Cambridge Street. They had the following shildren James Dobson b.1886, Harold Dobson b. 1888, Ernest Dobson b. 1889 and Annie Dobson b. 1891.

Ernest Dobson a carpenter migrated to Australia where he married Nellie Gaskell b.1890 (of Billinge Rd)father. William Gaskell b. 1863 a coal miner and mother Harriet Dean b. 1861

Ernest Dobson (my Great Grandfather) was killed in action in 1917 in France. He fathered two boys William Ernest Dobson and Frank Dobson
