Is this the couple who had the dance school in the uptars of a building, opposite the old bus station & market square ? I used to go to tap dancing classes at that dance school.
Hi Helen, yes you are correct,The Moss School of Dance was in the building near the market square.Spent many hours there in the 50's
RIP Tom
Thanks Evelyn, I too spent happy hours there round about 1949/50. I loved my red tap dancing shoes that we bought at a shop at the end of the Little Arcade. My favourite dance routine was to the song 'Roll a Silver Dollar' Great days !
I was very sad to read in the Wigan Reporter today that Tommy passed away this week. He was in his 90's, a wonderful man. Many condolences to his family.
Hello Helen & Evelyn, I too tap danced with Hilda Moss in the late 40's - 1950's. I used to dance with a girl called Alwyn Turner and we were known as the two Olwyn's. Have been trying to trace her for years but no luck. Perhaps you might remember us. So very sad to hear the news about Tommy.
Cheers, Olwyn (nee Pearson)

My wife Alwyn Walsh nee Turner danced at Mosses from the mid forties and is the other half of the two olwyns.
Hilda and my mum were close friends when they were young and I had Latin American dancing lessons from her in her home 1973/74. Too bad I lost touch after I got married and moved to Canada.
