Another great picture Ian, and such a fun one. There's Ken Pollitt W&D Euphonium player at the back of the drum.

I remember Alan Mason when he played trombone with us in Skelmersdale Prize band, must have been circa 1960's.
He was a fantastic player, especially at concerts when he would stand up and play solos without music.
Those were the days.
Nice to see a picture of him.
Thanks for putting it on.

3rd cornet (10 years old) under Alan. My grand parents lived on Warington Road . My mums side of the family (Lancasters) made up the backbone of Pemberton Temperance. But their practice room was over the working mens club, so it was Wigan and District
Long story short. Me, Neil Parkinson (3rd trombone) and John Linney (all boy scouts) started to blow together and became the 1st Orrell Scout Band, (later Orrell Silver Band). With the instruments from the then defunked Leigh Silver band.
Only last week did I find a a program in the loft. "Sounding Brass and Voices" with the Wigan Masonic choir. 4th April 1970 at the Queens Hall (Ken Pollit soloed The Cavalier)
There is a photo of the whole band, including the Tollet brothers (sole cornets) Nigel Cavell (1st cornet) Rory (on the Double b)
and of course Allan Mason ........... Happy Days !!
