Wigan Album

The statue behind the 3 soldiers is a Boer War memorial and it vanished a few years ago. The Friends of the Wigan Boer War memorial have been trying to trace its whereabouts without success. Any ideas will be considered. E.T.

I'm 38 and have never seen this statue in the park, I did once hear a rumour that it is right at the back of the park where the gardeners keep there stuff...greenhouses n that I think, but I dunno if thats true because another rumour I heard was that it may be restored in time....I hope they do with the money they recieved after winning the vote for a restoration

Remember the statue, I think it disappeared around the late 60s or early 70s, it had an arm missing by then. For some reason I used to think it was a statue of Davy Crockett when I was a kid!
