Great photo Eric. Is the ATC still going? I used to go to School with Guy Stockhill but lost touch so thanks for the update.

Hi Eric, How are you? In this picture you're yust as I remember you. I left the ATC (723 Sqn)in 1977 to join the RAF.

hi Derek, Nice to hear from you, it's a long time since we mended your split shoe with ARALDITE, was it at Brawdy camp?Eddie Kay is now a Sqdrn Ldr, Staff Officer. I am still in touch with about 5 cadets from your time with 723.

Hi Eric, those boots were made (forced)to last! Looking at the photo at RAF Luqa, was it tradition for the cadets to wear long trousers and the adults to wear shorts?

Comment by: Eric Turner on 15th October 2009 at 21:33

Derek, There was not enough shorts in the Stores to issue all cadets with them, there was about 120 cadets and only about 12 Adult Staff.

Hi Eric, that was a long wait for your reply, I hope you are well. It was '79 not '77 when I left, my mistake. I probably worked on the Nimrod in the picture during my eight years at RAF Kinloss and some of Guy's 16(R) Jaguars while at RAF St.Athan. I was also on 16 Sqn Buccaneers at RAF Laarbruch in the eirly eighties. Small world eh. PS,how's my mate Eddie?

Hi Derek, Sorry about the delay in replying, I must be getting old. I was talking to Eddie last night at the ATC, he had brought all the Poppy wreaths for the ATC & Army Cadets, he is the main man now for the poppies in Wigan since the British Legion shut down. Where do you live now, are you still in this area? If you are, call in the ATC,HQ.at the TA centre to see me Tues' or Frid' evenings 19.00 to 21.30. We put 2 wreaths on the Wellington Bomber memorial up Anglezarke the first Sunday after Remembrance Sunday, I have done this with Wigan Cadets for 21 years. E.T.

Hi Eric, sorry for the delay in replying, a great deal has happened this year. I now work at HMS Sultan instructing RN (Fleet Air Arm) trainees. For more details, please send me an e-mail, using the link (envelope icon just after the date of this reply) then I can update you.
