Thanks for posting this photograph Frank. I lived in Newtown at the time and played the big drum in St. Mark’s (2nd Wigan) Boys Brigade. I have many happy memories of visiting St Barnabas for walking days etc., and supporting the formation of St. Barnabas Boys Brigade. The vicar of St Mark’s at that time was Mr McDonald, and the Reverend Joe Lister was curate.
Best wishes, Michael Mason.

Hello Michael. Have you seen the photo under Walking Days.st Barnabas. the Big Banner.?I think you might be in the background in the band. Joe Lister has now retired after his time in Africa. Are you still a librarian with the NHS?

Further to Frank Atherton's comment about St. Barnabas Marsh Green Children's Week 1964, does anyone know what happened to Rev. Joe Lister following his retirement from Africa?

Frank Atherton - Thanks for the information on the Reverend Joe Lister. Although there were some difficult circumstances when Joe left Newtown and Marsh Green, I always remember his considerable kindness to me and to all the young people at St. Mark's and St. Barnabas.
