thanks to Nigb re my other recent pic, it is most likely Douglas, Isle of Man.
Now, who are the people?
The man in the dark suit reminds me of an old teacher.Fred Scarborough but the date of 1937 makes me think it is too early to be him.He too was in the RAF and used to tell us stories about when he was stationed somewhere in Scotland
Fred died in 1989 aged 75 so he would be so he must have been 23 in 1937.
Pw, just noticed your comments on this pic,
St Peter's, Hindley School football team 1955-56

and there is a strong likeness, obviously older and a little plumper.
1939 census/register shows Fred Scarborough as a teacher living with parents + siblings at 1 Carr Street, Hindley, but I can't understand a connection to my father Ken Orrell living Danesway, Wigan and Fred being 2 years younger. But Fred had a brother John born same year as my father and was an insurance broker, a clerk I suppose similar to my Dad, perhaps the 2 brothers looked similar? He also had a sister Frorence born 1923 who later married a Fred Wait).
Maybe there is no connection .Fred was very much into cricket and had a lot to do with St Peters cricket club.
Pw: thanks for the cricket hint, the plot thickens. Ken Orrell was into any sport, his main being swimming;
(see my recent post "circa 1935 Ken Orrell with Wigan Swimming Club Rushton and Blundell swimming trophies" and "Wigan Swimming Club 1938 - Water Polo team").
I have just posted this; also in Album "*UNKNOWN* - Can You Help?"
"about 1935 cricket team=possibly Hindley=back row 2nd from L Ken Orrell, far R probably Fred Scarborough"
(no link yet)
And it shows Fred (or lookalike) on the far right!
All dressed formally not like todays leisure clothing.
