Lord and Sharman Ltd.'s WW2 Memorial for workers at its Ross Works in Campbell Street, Pemberton - now at the South side of St Matthew's, Highfield.
From drill holes in the top of the stone, it seems to me that the memorial may have had a sundial fixed there originally. Does anyone know - or know where at Campbell Street is was positioned?

I worked there when I left school in 1975 I remember looking at the memorial it was positioned on the right hand side next to the canteen on a raised platform. I wondered where the memorial had ended up when the slipper works had been demolished.

Stephen - do you recall what was fixed to the top of the memorial?

I am almost certain there was a brass or copper sundial on the top it was probably weighed in for scrap or taken by somebody to use for themselves. fortunately the memorial stone was saved and is now in a safe place with the heroes names on. we can only thank the person or persons who saved the memorial.
