Barbara Vivian and Barney Cohen who travelled from London on the evacuation train are welcomed to Wigan by Mrs Smith
My sister and I were evacuees to wigan I was there for my 8th birthday so it would have been 1944 , I think we would have arrived there around the end of june beginning of July. I have since tried to find the place but it has been torn down in favour of an industrial site, does anyone know where I can buy/access a street map of Wigan in the forties ?, I feel I could find the place from a detailed map,and then to the 1939 census!!!!!!. also are there any lists ????
