Plenty of question marks there Alan,
but what is the question ?

Comment by: John G on 24th May 2018 at 16:35

Ray, Are we in shevington or could it conceivably be France! nothing like the old provonce le shamieleather Mon a me.

Comment by: Alan on 24th May 2018 at 17:01

If I knew I'd give you the answer.

John G..The location of the picture is in the centre of Angers, in the Loire Valley in France. Angers is "Twinned"
with Wigan. See the "Union Flag" and "French Tricoulor" on
the car, The bride is English, the bridegroom is French.

Where, when who??

Comment by: Philip Gormley. on 24th May 2018 at 21:13

It looks like The Hotel St Julien.

Comment by: Howard P on 24th May 2018 at 21:16

I suspect it's NOT Wigan!

Ray: Thank you for your reply, the Union Flag / French Tricolour together, I'am not sure that I like that thought Ray. Through out history we have had a love hate relationship. The French countryside is very nice and the Loire valley is I believe a region for wines, and I also like the cheese, but I always feel they have a deep dislike of us on this side of the channel.

Philip..Yes, it is Hotel St Julien, I have just had a look at the area on Google Earth, and it looks so different now.
My picture is early 1999 when my car was about 7 months old,
and because it had 7 seats, I got the job of taking the bridesmaids and the mother of the bride to and from the church. The view of the area now is so different, tramtracks
through the square, and very little traffic. Beneath the main square is a very large car park. Ray.

You'd been in much demand Ray - nice car too. Thanks.

Philip..This Mitsubishi Space Wagon was one of the finest cars that I owned. I bought it from Browns of Grimsargh,
near Preston, a Mitsubishi dealership, when it was 3 months
old, it was their demonstrator, but when brand new, it was
the "Press Launch" car of Mitsubishi Motors, late 1998.
Nowadays, things like Air Conditioning, SatNav, CD/Radio are
standard equipment, back then, they were classed as extras.
This car had Air Con, SatNav, Radio/Cassette/CD, Electric tilt & slide sunroof, all factory fitted from new. I kept it
for 6 years, wish I still had it now.

The journey to the wedding was interesting, I had to collect
the wedding cake from an Artisan wedding cake maker from Lowestoft, then down to Portsmouth for the overnight sailing
to Ouistreham (Caen), where you drive off the car ferry next
to Sword Beach of D-Day fame, then a 5 hour journey to Angers, the twin town of Wigan. Ray.

Ray.
Thanks for your varied and interesting post - you trucker lads are certainly an hardy lot, and I've further good reason to believe that you in particular possessed 'another string to your bow'. Carrying a wedding cake, unscathed, on such a long journey requires ... well, let me put it this way 'I'm quite capable of demolishing a trifle with a bag of spuds during the short journey from supermarket checkout to trolley.'
I like the white jacket … oh, and also your mention of the good old radio-cassette player. Regards.

The vehicle appears to have been registered in Gloucester. I passed my driving test in Gloucester coincidentally. But you'll have known that already Ray.............the fact that the car was registered there that is.........not the fact that I passed my driving test there. There's a thread somewhere on here entitled ' cars I wish I'd kept ', or something of that nature. You'll have to put a photo of the car on there. You'll find my car is already on there. It isn't quite as swish as yours is unfortunately.

Regards. Ozy.

Philip..Thank you for your comments, It is not me in the white jacket, He is Paddy Fitzgerald, paternal Grandfather
of the Bride, with his wife Iris, both long time friends of
mine, but both RIP.

Ozy..As mentioned above, my car was the "Press Launch" model
of Mitsubishi Motors, who are based at Cirencester in Gloucestershire. I would like to find the pages on Wigan World regarding "Wish I had kept that car", any ideas ??

Regards, Ray.

Ray.
Thanks for your correction; I was wrong to have 'assumed' that you were the gentleman seen wearing a white jacket.

You'll find it in the ' Assorted ' section Ray, just below where it says camping in Llandudno in bold type.
