Nice one David, these badges are becoming increasingly rare. My mate Ronnie used to have one attached to the radiator grille of his Volvo estate car. Another lad, Les , who lives in Rectory lane also has one, but like yours, his is mounted on a hardwood plaque, with the addition of a clock to one side. Apart from these two, I haven't seen one for a while, but now that you've reminded me, and since I haven't seen Les for a while, maybe I'll nip up there and see if he wants to part with it.
I see one around Standish on the radiator of a big car every now and again. Can't recall if it's a Volvo though.
Ronnie lives down Mossy Lea road. He got rid of the Volvo quite a while back. He's got some sort of 4x4 now. He may have transferred the badge over to that. I haven't seen him for quite some time.
I hadn't realised that this badge was so closely associated with Atkinson lorries - being their original symbol, I believe - though I've found no pics of lorries just carrying it, until 1937. It was brought back into use in the 1950s - which is probably where this example dates from - when Atkinson named a range of lorries " - Knight'.
I also didn't think they'd be going at the price they are on eBay!
