I was six weeks old.....ahhhhh!
I remember this paper in the house.....also the Football Pink.
Not the Wigan Evening Post Chronicle, a more Manchester ish newspaper trying to get a foot in Wigan. Printed at Withy Grove Manchester. Kemsley was one of the largest publishing groups in Britain. The building is now an entertainment venue called the Printworks.
Eisenbahn thanks for showing.
Remember the old saying: "never believe everything you read in the papers", which is quite true. I often wonder why newspapers can be found in supermarkets rather than just at the newsagents these days.
Because There's not many newsagent about these days. Not only supermarkets but fuel stations aswell sells newspapers. How many butchers shops do you see today, not many. It's all about convenience. Infact, you can buy newspapers from almost anywhere.
I know it was 1952 but the RAC offering 18 driving lessons for £7.17s.6d - less than 10 shillings a lesson - incredible!
