The only photograph I have of the event, taken on St.Wilfred's school field. Was this the Carnival Queen for 1979?.It was a sunny and warm day according to my diary entry.

The field behind the wire school perimeter fence soon to be another housing estate. I preffered it when it was a golf course. Progress eh

The retiring queen was Carol Gallagher,junior queen Debbie lowton and princes Deborah Jones.
