Check out other pages in the works section. My dad, Dougie, worked at Walkers, then Walmsleys for over 40 years. Centre lathe turner bottom shop. I followed him in 1968 as an apprentice before leaving in 1975.
The merger in the late 60s with Beloit started the rot.

Picture "D" is a Walker Macard Axial flow variable pitch fan, ventilation fan sizes were from four foot diameter up to seventeen foot maximum diameter.

Picture C is a Supercalendar. It's what puts a coating on paper by applying pressure up to 1,500 lbs per linear inch. They operate at around 2,000 feet per minute.

A few sharp eyes may have noticed that the picture C, Super calendar, actually says Walmsley's (Bury) Ltd. I worked for them from 1969 till 1975. Not sure if this company name was in use in the 50's.

Well there you go. Walmsley's (Bury) Ltd formed in 1933.
