The over use of superlatives in general conversation and in comments does make me wonder what people would say when presented with a genuinely magnificent item to behold?!

No it's not comparable to the Taj Mahal Phil but it is very well built and puts other more inferior modern buildings in the 'shade'....in other words built to last.
The names of the two brothers were Oates and George Rushton and they were wholesale grocers at the time when a lot of small shops were in existence

Derick the builders more than likely dead now, it's a very long time ago. It's a lovely building and it's stood the test of time.
