I think it may be A58 in platt bridge going towards Hindley, the bridge next to the Victoria pub

this is coming towards newtown wigan. I stood very close to where this picture was taken to watch the parade. (it would be 57/58.

The vehicle is being driven by Kam, "the only motoring elephant in the world"—one of Bertram Mills' four elephants trained by Joan and Gösta Kruse.

In April 1957 Coco The Clown was knocked over by this car and broke a leg, you can read all about Coco including the incident here: http://www.circopedia.org/Coco
