Excellent advice, and excellent sentiments. Given during the time of a war torn world, especially the war, raging in Europe.
I believe the D.O.B. should have read 11th,January,1930. Pupils did leave school at fourteen years of age, in 1944. It was raised to fifteen years of age in 1947,or 1948.
I left Rose Bridge at 14yrs of age in 1970.
Went straight into full time employment at 14hyrs.
Also took my 11plus exam aged 10yrs.
Irene had the promise of a job in Woolworths and really should have left school at the following Easter, but was given special permission to leave at Christmas
Stephen. I could only leave school at Easter,1949. I attained my fifteenth birthday,in March,1949. Left school on the Friday, working at the Maypole Colliery, on the Monday. Such leisurely bye gone days.
