Who remembers Smiths in Belle Green Lane? Sterilised milk. Don't see it much these days due to refrigerators.

I remember Smith's Dairy well. I wrote an article for Past Forward called "An Apple for the Teacher", about my time at Ince Central School, and I sent a photo in, which appears at the end of the article, of my classmates, and you can see The Dairy in the background. The photo is shown under "Schools.....Ince Central", page one, bottom row, first photo on left; I don't think there are many photos of The Dairy in existence.

Worked at this dairy for a couple of months in 1949. On occasions went with the lorry delivery driver, delivering crates of milk to a variety of retail premises,to various locations in Lancashire, as far a field, as Blackpool.
