This photo was in my dads tin. It is somewhere in Wigan, but don't know where. Maybe someone can recognize the building in the background. The ladies are all holding beer bottles as well. I would appreciate any help from our WW members.

If that is a tennis net - could it be the back of St Anne's Parish Rooms Shevington. The building looks like the back of the Parish Rooms and I know they had a tennis court behind it.

That's the fabric of a tablecloth or similar, Maggie.
This copy of the pic has been made by lying it flat and phtographing it, and some of the supporting surface has appeared in the pic.

No, it isn't a tennis net, it's the edge of the photograph and a piece of the chair the photo was on when I copied it. The photograph could have something to do with my grandmother Elizabeth Holland (Fairhurst)

It's a shot in the dark ... but the church in the background looks very much like the side of St. Stephens , Whelley ???

The photo was in my dads tin, he was a Holland, his mothers maiden name was Fairhurst. Can't understand what the beer bottles are all about though

I have seen a photo of the lady's in garswood drinking beer out of bottles, getting ready to go out on what they used to call a (sharabang) not sure of the spelling. But in short it was a booze up,they used to load the coach with beer and get sloshed.Nowt wrong with it hope they enjoyed the day,or at least what they could remember.
