Tiffany's

I still have a soft spot for huge plastic palm trees thanks to Tiff's :-)
I remember being commissioned to photograph the interior of Tiffany's when it first opened. They wanted a large format 5" x 4" camera to be used, which of course I had.
The difficulty was lighting the place since they wanted the picture to look the club did to the customer's eye.
The exposure took over one hour, I had to turn off all the lights and cover the safety lights, then with the camera open I walked round the darkened room to fire carefully aimed flashes at the walls and furniture, that completed I then had to turn on each set of lights, one group at a time, to allow them to burn into the exposure so that they would look natural. It was a huge undertaking and because of the time involved I only got to shoot the one and it had to be right first time.
Here's an article I did last year about Tiffs, can someone link it properly please :-)

Sadly when I moved away from Wigan, all those archived went to the Dumpster by the Market Hall. Sad really.

I used to be Doorman in those good old days of Tiffany's during 1978 -1981; those were great days, we walked around in two's making sure the men kept their Ties & Jackets on, would never happen these days...
Just found what I presume are some negatives of Tiffany's when it first opened. Presume they were publicity shots for the day. Will try and post some if anyone interested.
Loved the article by Tony Topping by the way.
