Joseph Eardley is in the above regt. photo (3rd from left front row) .He hailed from Warrington Rd Ince in 1918. hopefully this may be of interest if any other Wigan ancestors were in this regiment

I think my grandad, Thomas Piper, may be in this photo, I have got a picture of him it looks like him 3rd from the right as you look at it, 3rd row, his war record is the same as Joseph Eardley, they even got in trouble for overstaying leave on the same days.

I read about that too! -Glad to report that after the war he met a girl selling the "War Cry" Salvation Army paper in a Wigan pub and became a reformed character!! - See Salvation Army band photo also posted.Also posted is a footy photo of same era which was with this -maybe check that for your Grandad too ?
