I went to New Brighton with my Auntie Mary Stewart & cousin Mary once upon a time....Mary slipped on seaweedy rocks, broke or fractured her arm....we never went again !
We would go to New Brighton for a day out, really thought we'd gone somewhere special too.. One time, we were sitting up against the stone wall and one of my brothers started digging in the sand and found a load of coins.... Don't remember how much he found, but back in the 40's early 50's, even a couple of shillings was something...
Thanks for posting photos. I remember you and your mum very well, even though I am a bit younger than you. Your mum was a really nice lady. I also met your sister once when she came to visit from America. I used to live in Legh St, so it was nice to see Arthur Irvine as our families were related by marriage.
Hi there E.Hill,I'm thinking the Travis Family first House on the left as entering from Park View?,do You know the whereabouts of Arthur these days?
Hi Geoff, Sorry to inform you but Arthur sadly died ten or even fifteen years ago, possible longer.
oh my god sorry to hear that,we were real close friends as kids,he was about the same age as me,we used to go to Ireland with His brother Billy, what a shame, thanks for the info

Remember going to New Brighton on the ferry about 1967/68, the old Tower Ballroom Building was still there though the tower (like Blackpool) had been taken off the top years before. Remember that if you dug more than a few inches on the sand you came across thick black stuff like oil though I've been told it's actually the remains of an ancient forest. I think the ferry was discontinued not long I went.
