My brother, 19 yrs my senior, used to go to the "Penny Rush" at The Bug Cinema in Ince as a boy. The kids used to get in for a penny and a jam-jar, and the owner, "Owd Penny", used to sell the jars to TEG'S.

This must have been the most unhygenic pickle works in the world.. there was a great big hairy alsation running around the place day and night. we use to bang on the windows to make it bark

I remeber going to the Bug too or the Doric cinema to give its correct title the gents toilet was accessed from inside the Cinema (on the right of the screen) when you got there you were under the sky so a quick shout to your mates outside and they all climbed in so one went in the Petty and about eight came out

Hi
I am really pleased to see this ad & subsequent comments as earlier this year while walking in the Trough of Bowland, I found an old T.E.G pop bottle partially buried in the soil. As it was clearly old we went home & went on the Internet to find if there was any history surrounding its origins. I was really disapppointed with the results & was thankful of Wiganworld & its readers for this photo etc & Ron the historian who also gave me some background. Thanks
