The Bombed Milestone in Victoria Park Widnes. The Zeppelin L61 airship flew over Lancashire April 12th 1918.Commanded by Kapitanleutnant Ehrlich with a crew of 19. L61 crossed the Mersey at 18000 feet and at 11.17 the first of its bombs fell damaging a milestone on the A57 Prescot To Warrington Road.A second bomb fell at 11.20 in a field at Abbots Hall farm in Bold. The Zeppelin then went on to bomb Wigan killing Seven people. There were only two raids on Lancashire during the Great War and this was the second, although the pilot recorded in his log that he had bombed Sheffield not Wigan.

am I right that one of the people killed a woman named farrimond
The Germans flew many Zeppelin raids over England in WW1, starting their missions in 1915, but they were not very effective. Over 2000 Airship crews wee killed in the raids, though their bombs did for about 500 innocent civilians on the ground, mostly in the south and east..
