What a great gentleman he must have been.A really touching message.
thanks dave he was, everybody in ince knew tommy not wrong word for nobody and a rugby fantic playing and watching.
That was a message they were all given to write word-for-word and no deviation.
Imagine receiving that message and thinking he don't really 'talk' like that, but it's him is'nt it, it is his handwriting and he does'nt look 'shakey'. He's written that, it is him is'nt it.
The relief, but the agony scrutinising every word, style, stroke and angle of the script to make sure it really is him. What mixed emotions.
your proberly right fert mi dad didnt like talking about it much when id ask him about the war he would just clam up,it must not have been long after this letter, he got done at arnham
Wondered if it was Arnhem but did'nt like to ask.
One of my Mam's brothers was 3 Para, he made the withdrawal alright. He never really spoke of it either.
What a situation they were in eh.
hi fert when i said he got done i meant he was shot but survived the war less one lung.we owe a lot to how we live today to the men who fought in the 1st and 2nd world war and the soldiers who are still dieing for our country.
Thanks Tony, for the extra information and God Bless them all.
