I used to get the 606 bus every saturday from Bell Green Lane,Higher Ince,with my school friend Jane Duddle.I lived at 14,De Trafford Drive from 1968 to 1984,when our family moved to Chatham in Kent.Does anybody out there remember me?
I went to Bell Green school then Rose Bridge High School.

Leyland Atlantean in the awful orange and white colours of Grater Manchester Transport,the bus built in Wigan in 1972
with many others, had our own Wigan registration of EK and JP, ie NEK 8K DJP 482D and looked much better in our own Wigan Cherry and White colours (why did we have to change?)

Before Wigan Corporation Transport merged with Greater Manchester buses around 1973-4, every vehicle registered in Wigan had EK or JP on its reg plates. I bought my new motorcycle from Millers in 1974 which was PJP ***M.
Each town had it's own, Bolton was WH, St Helens DJ, Warrington ED, Rochdale-Oldham DK, Lancashire TD and so on.
You had an idea where it was from.
