Photograph of the team in the early 50s. My Dad is seated extreme right. The only other face I recognise is Dr Frank Unsworth standing right behind him.

Doctor Unsworth was our doctor in platt bridge. He must have worked down Bickershaw colliery before he became our doctor then.

There was a good bowler named Danny Taylor who played for Bickershaw.Wonder if he is on the photo?

There used to be a Family Practice of GP’s in Westhoughton named Unsworth. I wonder if the doctor was related to
Dr’s Leo, Cyril and Jim.
Would that doctor have been a ‘Bevin Boy’ before qualifying as a doctor?

Seems to be a little confusion with this one. It was called Bickershaw Colliery Cricket Club but was in my time a social club. Artists at the weekend, dart board, snooker table and a good pint. My Dad was never a collier and neither was Frank Unsworth.

David,
I think the pitch and the club were down Bolton House Road.

Hi Bill. Yes you’re correct. The cricket field and club were down Bolton House Road. Sadly no sign of either these days. Just wasteland.
