Coach Syd Abram ( whom I think scored the first try at Wembley for Wigan in 1929 )organizes a tug of war at the old Borough stadium, South Shore as part of his training regime. Terry Dunn (I think) ran a pub in Wigan
terry dunne had the silverwell in wigan . i once played darts for them.
I played in the Ken Gee Cup with Terry Dunn in 1969 against South Lancs Boring Club. Ken Halliwell guested for them and Terry Dunn was guest professional. Our team was Cardinal Newman Old Boys [even though I never went there!]
I think there is some confusion regarding Terry Dunn. The Terry Dunn who had The Silverwell was a Police Constable at Wigan, and lived at the bottom of Marsh Green. He resigned in the 1970s, and went out to Benidorm, where he opened the Wigan Pier bar. He came back over here in the 1980s, and went into The Silverwell.
What confusion, Peter?
Ian - some confusion that Terry Dunn the rugby player and Terry Dunn the ex PC and pub landlord were the same person when they were actually two different people.
Thanks for clearing that up, Peter.
I wasn't aware of that.
Cheers.
Are you sure , Peter?
