I've tried to "improve" Ron's photo of this Wigan team. This probably was the team that faced and beat Wigan Highfield away on September 2nd 1922, the second game of that season. They won 25 - 10, with Jim Sullivan kicking 8 goals. It was also only the second appearance for Wigan of the legendary Johnny Ring who eventually made 329 appearances scoring a remarkable 368 tries and sits 2nd as the all time top try scorer for the club.

This match also "celebrated" the opening of Wigan Highfield's new ground at Tunstall Lane, they had been admitted to the Rugby League in the 1922 - 23 season.
