Even the Blackpool directors were shocked as they hadn't a plan B as they expected defeat!
A couple of Wigan lads involved.
I apologise for the quality.
They are newspaper cuttings and they are over 60 years old.
If anyone can improve them, it would be very much appreciated. Thank You.
The club President Sir Fred Emery (pictured), was also a Wigan lad, born and bred in Shevington and Standish. He started out in life as a porter on Gathurst station, before WWI.
Thanks for that, Mick.
Fred and Gordon Emery were very passionate about Blackpool Borough. Without their input, the club would have never taken off.
I know you know about photography. Is there any chance you can improve the quality of these newspaper clippings?
Thanks in advance.
Not much I can do with it I'm afraid, Ian.
I went to Spring View School, at the same time as Jimmy Hooper. He played for Wigan in the fifties. I believe he also played for Blackpool. He emigrated to either Australia, or New Zealand.
